Juli Lee

Juli Lee moves playfully across the spectrum of electronic music, deliberately ignoring genre boundaries along the way. For her, one thing matters above all: music should breathe, carry soul, and bring people into connection with themselves and with one another. Her sets unfold spontaneously and intuitively, responding to whatever is present in the moment. Where the journey leads is usually a surprise for the dancers, and for Juli herself.

She does not monologue, she seeks exchange and the smallest shared denominator in the room. Mischievous, precise, and technically refined, she invites people to surrender to the moment and become part of it.

Despite her wide-ranging versatility, Juli Lee’s excursions into her musical world remain unmistakably her own. She challenges, propels, and then, in the next breath, can tip an entire room from euphoric cheering into an almost reverent quiet, where suddenly everyone present feels vividly there.

Even though Juli Lee weaves her musical selections into a coherent sonic fabric with sharp instinct, care, and subtle cross-connections, her sets are also allowed to be simply fun. Kitsch is not ruled out, familiar sounds are not treated with suspicion. Sometimes it is precisely there that a certain lightness appears. One that reminds us not to take ourselves quite so seriously. The appeal of her sets often lies in this friction: intelligent, but not overthought; playful, but never arbitrary.

Her musical journey began with borrowed turntables and old hip-hop records. A playful curiosity that quickly became a deep need. Today, Juli performs across Europe, from intimate clubs to large stages, always curious and, even after all these years, with a growing sense of excitement.

“The moment when you share music with others and realise that everyone in the room is feeling the same thing, triggered by the sounds coming from the speakers, is one of the purest forms of love I know.”

In the studio, by contrast, she enjoys the quiet. Experimenting with sounds, sinking into her own cosmos, and archiving creative ideas beyond the dance floor. Her releases have resonated beyond Switzerland, reaching the ears of renowned international artists. She has also composed music for film, theatre, and dance productions.

In 2021, she also co-founded the record label klaus:elle with two other music creators. Alongside her artistic work, she studies Sociology and Musicology part-time and is committed to promoting greater fairness and diversity in the music landscape, including through her involvement with Helvetiarockt.
