Manuel Rodriguez

As a true Magdeburg native, born in 1974 with Chilean roots, Manuel Rodriguez grew up in an environment shaped by a variety of melodic influences. His passion for music began in his early years when he discovered the diversity of Latin American folklore and genres such as EBM, Synth-Pop, and Electro Wave.

In a time of change and free spirit during the early 90s, the 18-year-old Manuel Rodriguez was captivated by the flourishing electronic music scene in Germany. The pulsating rhythms and futuristic sounds irresistibly drew him in. This fascination turned into interest, and the world of electronic music became an integral part of his life.

Soon, he started purchasing his own records and experimenting with turntables alongside friends like American Richard McCutchan.

Their harmonious musical preferences led to the formation of the project “Rodriguez & McCutchan” in 2008. Based at the “Alte Diamant Brauerei” in Magdeburg from 2010, they established their first home base as residents and performed together in Spain, France, the Netherlands, and various locations and clubs across Germany. Their first remix, “Inside My Soul” by Alvaro Ernesto, released in July 2010 on “Chillin Music,” also marked Manuel's initial step into producing electronic music. This was followed by another remix for Pascal FEOS' album “Terrabong” (levelNONzero) and productions for the “Bondage” label.

In 2012, Manuel initiated his solo project as a DJ and producer by participating in a remix contest for Dominik Eulberg's track “Adler.” His winning entry led to its release on “Trapez Ltd.,” paving the way for further productions on labels like “levelNONzero,” “MYR,” and “Heimlich Audio.” These releases perfectly reflected his sense of a unique sound. His style can be described as powerful, energetic, and simultaneously emotional. In his productions, he emphasizes complexity and avoids adhering to predefined paths. During his DJ sets, Manuel strives to bring together various facets of electronic music to create moments of surprise. From Deep House to Techno, he is always in search of the “golden ratio” that captures the groove and captivates the listener.

In addition to his released works, there are countless unfinished pieces that provide insights into his creative prowess and hint at future musical adventures. Until the tragic loss of Pascal FEOS in 2020, Manuel was a steadfast member of “levelNONzero.” The connection between the two artists extended beyond music and was characterized by shared visions and close friendship. Collaborations with other artists like Guido Schneider and Goeran Meyer showcased the dynamics and innovative spirit within this creative circle of friends.

The story of Manuel Rodriguez is that of an autodidact, shaped by a strong community of close confidants, his family, and his intuitive approach. His music invites people to share emotions and experience the reactions they evoke.
